Huskies are one of the top 15 most popular breeds in the US. Many dog lovers adore Huskies because they remind them of wolves. However, this is not an easy-going, relaxed family pet many hoped they would be. That is why many of these dogs end up in Husky rescues across the country.
If you’re looking for a Husky companion, getting in touch with a Husky rescue near you might be a great place to start. These rescues are dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming this wonderful breed. However, you need to be sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Huskies are energetic dogs that will require a lot of exercises. They can be wonderful family pets, but their physical needs need to be fulfilled. These dogs need to run and be properly trained. They are very vocal, so if you have neighbors who complain, Husky might not be the best breed. If you’re looking to adopt one from a Husky rescue, here are our recommendations of the best rescues you can apply with.
1. Northern Exposure Siberian Husky Rescue
If you’re from the New Jersey area, we would highly recommend the Northern Exposure Siberian Husky Rescue. This volunteer-run rescue organization started saving Huskies in 2013, and since their beginning, they rehomed numerous dogs. Even if you’re not looking to adopt, you can volunteer and become a foster parent to a dog that needs help. They will accept adopters from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, which is why we decided to include them.

2. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc.
Some might think Texas is not the best place for a Husky, but that doesn’t change the fact there are many of these dogs there. Unfortunately, many of them end up in shelters. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. is dedicated to helping unfortunate Huskies from their area. If you’re close to them, it might be worth getting in touch. They are entirely run by volunteers, and since 2009, they managed to save over 2.100 Huskies. Dogs in their care are evaluated, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped before they are put up for adoption.

3. Patriot Siberian Husky Protection League, Inc.
The Patriot Siberian Husky Protection League, Inc. covers a large area of the United States. In fact, they are active all over New England. If you live in that area and are looking for a Husky, these guys might be your best chance for adopting one. These guys have two main programs - rehoming and adopting. If you’re adopting, you will have to pay an adoption fee. If you’re rehoming, there is no fee required. They assure us that no dogs with a biting history or aggressive tendencies can enter their program, which probably means they were carefully assessed.

4. ARA Canine Rescue, Inc.
We simply had to include ARA Canine Rescue, Inc. Not only are they one of the top 150 non-profits in the US, but they are also a Husky rescue! One of the best things about this rescue is that they have a 10-acre ranch. All of their dogs live there before they are adopted. On that ranch, dogs get full vet treatment. They are dewormed, vaccinated, and rehabilitated before they are placed in a new home. There is an adoption fee, but their process is not as strict as some other rescues.

5. Forever Husky
Forever Husky is a rescue organization based on foster homes. Neglected, abused, or abandoned dogs are placed in foster homes where they are rehabilitated before being placed in their new forever homes. A great thing about that is - dogs are socialized. Most foster homes already have dogs, and rescued Huskies get accustomed to new surroundings and love. There is an adoption fee, but it will depend on how old the dog is. The younger the dog, the higher the adoption fee. Dogs in their care get all the vet care their need, and adopters get full support in raising a Husky.

6. Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue
As soon as we saw this Husky rescue, we knew we had to include them on this list. Not only do they have an interesting name, but Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue is also a terrific rescue. Dogs in their care are microchipped, spayed/neutered, dewormed, and vaccinated. These guys will assess the dog’s temperament to make sure they can pair a dog with the perfect new owner. Plus, they are active across two large States, so chances are they will have a dog for you.

7. Husky Haven of Florida
If you’re from the Sunshine State and looking for a Husky, your best bet is Husky Haven of Florida. This is another non-profit dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming a Husky. Keep in mind that Florida is not an ideal environment for a Husky, and they will enjoy cold weather a lot more than scorching hot weather. Nevertheless, Huskies from Florida need rescue, and these guys will make sure to help all dogs they can. They will try to find the perfect match for you, but the adoption process will require you to jump through some hoops. Be patient, and we are sure they will find a Husky for you.
