Polish Lowland Sheepdog
Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a lively, clever, and independent working dog with a shaggy coat. These are very obedient dogs but can be a bit stubborn. They were bred for working purposes and they are highly protective o their flock. Most people believe that the Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are descended from the Puli, Tibetan terriers, and other herding dogs. These dogs were bred for the purpose of being the flock dogs over the day and the guardians over the night.
FUN FACT: In the 1500s these dogs were brought to Scotland and it is thought that they were involved in the creation of the Bearded Collie.
Like many other dog breeds even the Polish Lowland Sheepdog was nearly extinct after the World War but manly thanks to the work of Dr. Danuta Hryniewicz this dog breed remains alive.
The standard for PONs was written in 1959 and at that time they were accepted by the FCI. American Kennel Club accepted Polish Lowland Sheepdogs in 2001.

Polish Lowland Sheepdog has a double and thick coat that requires a proper amount of maintenance. They have a dense topcoat and a soft undercoat. To keep his coat looking good brushing once-twice a week will do the job and keep the hair without tangles and mats.
Like all dogs with a fluffy coat, they easily get dirty so you will have to bathe your dog from time to time.

The rest is basic care for these dogs. Brush their teeth at least three times a week to prevent tartar buildup and infections.
