NFL Players With a Soft Spot for Dogs

Even the toughest guys like the NFL players have a soft spot - their dogs. They might be tough, fearless, and swaggy, but when it comes to their dogs, they become just like the rest of us - a mush of sweetness and adoration.
It doesn’t matter how strong or big you are when your puppy looks at you with their puppy eyes, there is no defense against that. We made a list of our favorite NFL players and their adorable pets.
1. Patrick Mahomes II
The star quarterback of the reigning Super Bowl champions is a huge animal lover. Not only does he love dogs, but he also shares his house with two Pit Bulls - Steel and Silver. His girlfriend had Steel since 2017, and Silver joined their family in 2019. As a kid, Mahomes was terrified of dogs, but eventually, he got over his fears and now he is a proud dad of two dogs.

2. Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and the 19/20 season was probably the best of his career. His team is one of the favorites for the 2021 Super Bowl title and we wish him all the luck. Kelce has two dogs - Rambo and Chauncey. Chauncey is a Pomsky and Rambo is a Goldendoodle. Kelce clearly loves designer breeds, and they make absolutely adorable pets.
Kelce might be making history because he is currently leading in receiving yards, and if it stays that way, he will be the first-ever tight end that pulled that off.

3. Carson Wentz
Carson James Wentz, better known as CJ Wentz, is a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is a passionate hunter and as you might expect, he has a profound love for hunting dog breeds. Wentz has three adorable Golden Retrievers, and they even have their own social media accounts.

4. J.J. Watt
Even though this rough season is behind him, this future Hall-of-Famer has plenty to look forward to. He has two adorable dogs - a Golden Retriever and a Goldendoodle. They are called Tex and Houston, and it’s pretty clear where he got the idea of naming his dogs. Watt was never too secretive about how much love he has for his city and naming his dogs after it is a clear sign.

5. Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins is the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, but what’s more important, he is the owner of an adorable Goldendoodle called Bentley. A couple of years ago, Bentley was in somewhat bad shape and needed to exercise because he started being overweight. With the fitness regime and a balanced diet, Cousins got his dog to a normal, healthy weight.
Not only is he a responsible owner, but he is also a huge dog lover. Only in 2016, he fostered seven dogs and helped find them a forever home.

6. JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu Smith-Schuster is a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he is also a proud dog dad. He owns an adorable French Bulldog called Boujee. Boujee is no ordinary dog - he is an emotional support dog that helps Smith-Schuster get through stressful situations in life. Just like Mahomes, Smith-Schuster was also afraid of dogs when he was young, but has stated that his Frenchie changed his life. Now he doesn’t go anywhere without his beloved pet.

7. Tom Brady
You don’t need to be an NFL fan to know who Tom Brady is. This football superstar has a huge family and a part of that is his three dogs - Lua, Scooby, and Fluffy. Lua is a Pit Bull mix, Scooby is a Beagle, and Fluffy is a small, black and white, mixed breed. All dogs are rescues which is a big testament to the character of the Brady-Bündchen family. Not only do they love dogs, but they are also incredible humanitarians that have donated over $100 million through various charities.

8. Ezekiel Elliot
Elliot has three beautiful dogs. One of them is a Rottweiler called Ace. Rotties make amazing pets that are not only loyal but very affectionate and loving towards their owners. They are also very protective of their owners and their property, which is why the NFL star had a slight legal dispute after his dogs attacked the person who had to clean his pool. Elliot’s lawyer claimed that the person was trespassing, and the dogs did what’s in their DNA - guard.
