If you are in a hurry and you have to give your dog a quick potty break, you can be sure they will take all the time in the world to do their business. That seems to be the case whenever you have only a few moments to take your dog out. Luckily, there are some ways you can learn how to make a dog poop quickly. It can work on peeing as well. Here are our favorite tricks to make a dog poop quickly;

1. Doggy massage

Many dog owners give their dogs a bit of a belly massage before they take them for a walk. The massage will stimulate their muscles and get the blood flowing. Like human babies with excess gas issues, a light abdomen massage can help stimulate your dog’s bowels and help them poop quickly. This trick might be worth trying if you are in a tight spot and really need your dog to hurry.

2. Exercise

This might seem like a weird tip, but getting your dog active could potentially speed up the pooping routine. You can take your dog out where you usually walk and get them moving a bit. Play a quick game of catch or run with them for a bit. The more active your dog is, the more active will their bowels be. This works for some dog owners, and they noticed their dogs would quickly poop if they get moving. If you can’t make them exercise or run outside, you can always try with a little bit of activity at home. Try a game of Tug-O-War or whatever you can to make your dog run around a bit.

3. Schedule

This might not be a quick solution, but your dog will thrive on a strict schedule. If they go for a walk at the same time every day, they will eventually learn and adapt their “pooping timer” to go off at the exact time every day. Most humans have the same schedule - some of us prefer doing it in the morning, and some do it in the afternoon. It can be hard to make your dog poop on command; in fact, it is nearly impossible, but if you keep your dog on a schedule, you can know precisely when they want and need to poop.

4. Some privacy

Just as you wouldn’t be too happy if someone were standing next to you while you do your business, some dogs might like some privacy. You can look for a quiet and private place where your dog can snoop around a bit and find a nice place to poop. Mind you, dogs don’t really care about privacy, but different distractions can make this process longer. Look for a place where your dog won’t be bothered by other dogs, people, interesting smells, or strange sounds. If you manage to do that, there is a good chance your dog will be happy to poop in that spot.

5. Pooping on command

While teaching your dog to poop on command can be tricky, it is not impossible. The thing is, it will take some time. Every time your dog poops, you should praise them, use your clicker, and give them a treat. You can introduce a vocal command like “Poop” or “Make.” This is a process that will take time, but your dog will eventually associate the command with the specific behavior you want from them. If you manage to do that and take your time to teach your dog to poop on command, it will be a helpful trick that will get handy when you don’t have much time.
