Segugio Maremmano
Segugio Maremmano is a breed of dog from the coastal plains of Maremma, in Tuscany. It is widely used for hunting wild boar because these dogs bark, keeping still. The breed is recognized in 2018, by the FCI. It has registered 6,600 dogs as breed founders, and the breed was the third-most numerous breed in Italy in 2009.
Due to a large number of founders and the breed's genetic variability, the breed should enjoy relative freedom from genetic inbreeding.

Segugio Maremmano dogs come in two variants: short-haired and rough-haired. Short-haired Segugio Maremmano has a harsh and dense coat that only requires weekly brushing to keep the coat clean and healthy. Rough-haired Segugio Maremmano has long hair that requires more brushing to keep them clean and to keep hair without tangles.
