Grooming

Appenzeller has a double coat that consists of a shiny and thick top layer and a thick underlayer. As with all double-coat dogs, Appenzeller is no different, and you will have to brush them weekly to keep the hair under control. During shedding seasons, daily brushing is advised to remove dead hair and to keep the dog looking good.

Appenzeller Sennenhund's teeth should be brushed weekly to remove tartar build-up and to secure fresh breath and healthy gums. When you hear their nails clicking on the floor, their nails should be trimmed.

These dogs will enjoy various fun activities, including chasing, hide and seek, returning the ball, etc. If you meet their needs, you can be sure that your dog will be well-behaved in the house, and you don't have to worry that he will develop behavior problems.

As a pet, the Appenzeller Sennenhund can be wonderful. They get along great with all family members and love spending time with them. They especially love kids, and they can be great playing partners for them.

No matter how good your dog is, you should never let them play without supervision, so any unwanted behavior would emerge (nipping, tail pulling, etc.)
