Once again, millions of viewers will soon gather in front of their TVs and watch the most anticipated sporting event of the year. No, we’re not talking about football; we look forward to the Puppy Bowl 2022!

Every year since 2005, Animal Planet brings together some of the cutest puppies from across the country and puts them together in a 10x20 feet stadium to have fun and play. This year is no exception, and 105 puppies will delight pet lovers worldwide. And if you want to get involved to see the adorable action, let’s get through the basics.

What time is Puppy Bowl 2022?

For the past 17 years, the Puppy Bowl has been held on the same Sunday as the Super Bowl, and 2022 is no exception. According to Discovery, this year’s event is on Sunday, February 13, starting at 2 PM Eastern Time.

Dan Schachner returns once again as referee of the Puppy Bowl, and commentary on the match will be provided by Steve Levy of ESPN and Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. The pre-game event starts at 1 PM, and the Puppy Bowl is announced by puppies Rot Weiler, Sheena Ina, and James Hound, as well as field reporters Mini Pinscher and Greta Dane to help you welcome the main event and offer their insights into the Puppy Bowl Draft, where two teams will be selected.

Once the teams are set up, the action will be handed over to the official Puppy Bowl coaches: Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. Longtime friends return to the Puppy Bowl for the second time as hosts, but Stewart will coach Team Ruff this year while Snoop leads Team Fluff. In their coaching duties, the couple will, according to Discovery,

"give updates on the game, lead training sessions, perform exercises, and provide motivation and encouragement to inspire their players to win."

If hours and hours of puppy play on the 13th just aren’t enough, there’s an additional source of entertainment: Animal Planet’s TikTok hosted a live stream of scrimmage before Puppy Bowl last Sunday.

How to watch the Puppy Bowl?

If you have cable or satellite, you can watch the Puppy Bowl live on Animal Planet. You can also stream the game on the Animal Planet website.

Don’t worry if you don’t have cables because you can still stream the Puppy Bowl on Discovery+ via PC, Roku, Amazon Fire stick, or smart TV. Discovery+ costs a few dollars a month, but the new subscriptions come with a free seven-day trial, which is six days more than you need to watch the puppies.

Who plays the Puppy Bowl?

Puppy Bowl contestants come from animal shelters around the world, and every puppy in the program is available for adoption - a mission that has been 100 percent accomplished in each of the past 17 years. This year there are 105 puppies coming together from 67 different shelters, representing 33 different states.

Once they arrive at the big game, the puppies are divided into Team Fluff and Team Ruff through a draw. Teams are then further categorized by size (small, medium, and large) to make the game safe and fair for everyone. Once the game starts, the puppies are usually swapped every 20 minutes to ensure that everyone gets a rest and enough water between the rounds. After the first two quarters, the halftime show this year was entrusted to - kittens. We have to admit that the performance at the Super Bowl is impressive (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, and Kendrick Lamar), but the kittens have announced that they have prepared an amazing performance.

Will there be kittens?

Yes! The “Kitty Half-Time Show” returns in 2022. This year, the kittens will be attending a beautiful beach party in the middle of a three-hour Puppy Bowl, Discovery says. It will no doubt serve as the perfect getaway from a dull February.

Who won the Puppy Bowl in 2021?

Last year’s Puppy Bowl was tense until the very end. It came down to the final play, and Staffordshire Terrier Big Boss Paulie made some heroic moves at the end of the game to bring Team Ruff a dramatic 73-69 victory.
