Have you heard about Juji, the enormous dog? If you haven’t, you are in for a treat.

Juji became an internet sensation after his owner, Christopher Cline, decided to post their adventures online. More precisely, they took Instagram by the storm and gained hundreds of thousands of followers. Chris is posting their everyday life, and people were left in awe as they saw the 10-feet dog with his owner.

In most of their pictures together, Juji looks at least twice the size his owner Chris is. People couldn’t believe what they saw, and we were in disbelief as well the first time we saw Chris’s pictures and videos.

Determining the breed

At first glance, the breed looks pretty familiar, and we immediately guessed it was a Goldendoodle, but our whole lives, we never heard of one reaching 10 feet. We started guessing what the reason behind such a large dog might be; is it some sort of illness or physical condition that caused this dog to get this huge?

Goldendoodle

We started looking into this matter closely and learned that Chris has two Goldendoodles, Juji and Jasper. Since we are familiar with Goldendoodles, we know how large these dogs usually are. They are considered medium-large, and most of them are not even close to 10 feet.

Goldendoodles are a mix between the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. They come in different sizes because one of their parent breeds can be pretty small. The Large Standard Goldendoodle is between 20 and 24 inches and can weigh between 55 and 90 pounds. It is nowhere near 100 feet, and 450 pounds Juji measured.

They are pretty active and friendly dogs that are known for their outgoing and playful personality. Goldendoodles like Juji and Jasper are usually enthusiastic about any activity their owners throw at their feet.

It is no wonder Chris got so many great shots of his dogs. He did many creative things with his dogs, and some pictures even show Chris riding Juji like a horse. They are often naping together under the tree and can even be seen how Chris is “maintaining” his giant 450-pound dog.

How it all started?

One of the first things we were wondering was how it all started. How did Chris get the idea of creating such great photos? We were a bit bummed out when we found out that Juji is a normal Goldendoodle and Chris is a creative man that photoshops for a living. He makes stunning photos that people can order from him.

The truth is, he started editing these photos as a joke with his girlfriend. They never expected Juji, the giant dog, would end up becoming so popular. Their social media started gaining insane amounts of followers, and pretty soon, he had hundreds of orders from dog owners wanting to make their own dogs look like Juji, the giant dog.

The popularity started to hit them when “The Dodo,” a popular site, published a series of posts about Juji, the giant dog. People were in disbelief and wondered why they would publish something like that if it isn’t true. Little did they know that The Dodo published that as April Fool’s joke.

Owning a giant dog breed

There is no denying that owning a dog that size would be very, very interesting. Luckily, some giant dog breeds are already living among us, although they are not as large as Juji.

The truth is, large dogs like the Great Dane, Saint Bernard, Mastiff, or Caucasian Shepherd are not that easy to maintain. They require a lot of space to move, and if you live in an apartment, owning such a giant dog breed might be nearly impossible.

Giant breeds are usually pretty lazy. They are powerful, but they typically choose to take a nap instead of demonstrating their abilities. When it comes to such large dogs, you need to account for their maintenance costs. They eat a lot, and insurance on these dogs is usually higher. Medical bills are more expensive, and they, unfortunately, have a shorter lifespan.

Large dogs are often not the best fit when it comes to families with children. Dogs might want to play with kids, and they could unintentionally injure them. However, some breeds have fantastic manners around kids. In fact, one of these breeds even got the nickname “nanny dog.”

Big dogs great with kids

Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are usually considered great with kids, but they are not even close to the fantastic Newfoundland. They are absolutely massive; they can reach 28 inches and weigh up to 150 pounds. Despite their size, Newfoundlands are excellent with kids.

These dogs are gentle, kind, patient, and watchful. They are great swimmers, and some dogs even saved children from drowning. You can read more about them here - Newfoundland breed profile.

Saint Bernards are pretty close to Newfoundland. These breeds are not even close to Juji, the giant dog, but they can get pretty massive. Saint Bernards are also pretty peaceful dogs that have endless patience and tolerance for kids’ shenanigans.
