Grooming

Working Kelpie has a weather-resistant short and flat coat that can come with or without a short, dense undercoat. Regular brushing will be enough for Working Kelpie to look good.

Working Kelpie coat colors:

• Black with or without tan
• Blue
• Red fawn
• Tan

With these dogs, the rest is basic care. Trim their nails if the dog doesn’t wear them out naturally, regularly check their ears for any signs of infection (bad odor, redness…), and bathe them a few times a year.

Exercise

Working Kelpies are energetic and active dogs that will require proper daily exercise. Exercise can come in many different forms, including long walks, hide and seek, playing inside, chasing the ball, etc. If you provide them with enough activities, you don’t have to worry that your dog will miss behaving.

Socialization

To ensure that you end up with the best possible dog, early socialization is a must. Start socializing your Working Kelpie as soon as you bring him home. With proper socialization, you will ensure that your dog doesn't become shy or aggressive.

Working Kelpies are generally healthy dogs, but like most of the dog breeds in the world, they can suffer from some health problems. Those problems include:
