Mountain Cur grooming

Mountain Cur has short hair that is extremely easy to take care of. The occasional brush will do the trick and remove loose and dead hair. During shedding season (twice a year), these dogs will shed a lot, and at that time, frequent brushing is advised to keep the hair under control. They will need a bath occasionally or when they roll into something dirty.

The most colon colors of these dogs are black, brindle, blue, red, brown, and yellow.

The rest is basic care for these dogs – trim their nails when needed (when they get too big), brush their teeth regularly, and check their ears for signs of irritation or infections.

Exercise

Mountain Curs are very active dogs, and you will need to provide them with the proper amount of daily activities in order for this dog to be happy and healthy. They will need to be challenged physically and mentally. If you don’t provide your dog with enough activity, they can become bored, sad, and destructive. Mountain Curs also enjoys canine sports and outdoor activities.

FUN FACT: Mountain Curs were mostly used for hunting squirrels and raccoons.

Mountain Cur socialization

Mountain Cur is a very devoted and smart dog that loves to have a job to do. Because of their intelligence, most of them will be easy to train, but you must establish leadership over your dog for him to perceive you as a pack leader. Because they were bred to work, you will need to properly socialize your dog if you want to have a well-behaved dog.

From the puppy age, you will need to expose your dog to many sounds, sights, people, other dogs, and animals so he will learn how to reach many different situations.

FUN FACT: The word “Cur” means working dogs that were bred for herding, hunting, and guarding.

Mountain Cur  - kids and other animals

These are excellent family dogs that will protect every member of his family once he gets familiar with them. You need to be very careful when you are around smaller animals because of his high prey drive he may want to chase those smaller animals.

The first thing you must teach your kids is how to approach, interact, and play with the dog. Also, when you let your kids play with the dog, you must always supervise them playing so any unwanted behavior wouldn't emerge.

To be sure that you are getting a healthy dog, always buy him from a responsible and official breeder, and that way, you can be sure that the puppy has the best possible start in his life because breeders take good care of him.
