Bearded Collie

The Bearded Collie, or Beardie, is a herding breed of dog once used primarily by Scottish shepherds, but now mostly a popular family companion. Its history is a combination of fact and legend. It is believed that a Polish merchant brought 6 Polish Lowland Sheepdogs with a shipment of grain and that a Scottish shepherd was so impressed by the herding ability of that breed that he traded sheeps for dogs. Than it was crossbred with local Scottish dogs to create the Bearded Collie.
