The Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon or Český Fousek is a Czech dog breed and is a versatile gun dog. They are wirehaired and have the appearance of having a beard and mustache ("facial furnishings") that are common to the wirehaired dog breeds. There is a huge size difference between the females and males of this breed.

Breed History

The exact origin of the Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is unknown. This dog was kept as a pointing breed in their homeland Czechoslovakia. World War II almost wiped out this dog breed but thanks to enthusiasts this dog breed managed to survive. Today Český Fousek are popular hunting dogs in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has a medium-long and wiry coat like many griffon dogs have. They have a double coat with a soft inner layer and a harsh and wiry outer coat. As with all double coat dogs, Český Fousek is no different and you will have to brush them weekly to keep the hair under control. During shedding seasons daily brushing is advised to remove dead hair and to keep the dog looking good.
