Dog Breed Characteristics
Grooming
Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has a medium-long and wiry coat like many griffon dogs have. They have a double coat with a soft inner layer and a harsh and wiry outer coat. As with all double-coat dogs, Český Fousek is no different and you will have to brush them weekly to keep the hair under control. During shedding seasons, daily brushing is advised to remove dead hair and to keep the dog looking good.
Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon coat colors:
- Dark roan with or without brown patches
- Brow with ticked markings
- Brown without any marking
You will also have to check their ears regularly for any signs of infections (bad odor, redness, etc.). You can wipe their ears with a cotton ball dipped into an ear cleaner. Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon's teeth should be brushed weekly to remove tartar build-up and to secure fresh breath and healthy gums.
Their nails should be trimmed when you hear their nails clicking on the floor.
Exercise
Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon dogs are very active, and they will enjoy all fun daily activities. You can take them on long walks, play with them in the house or throw them ball outside – whatever you choose, your dog will enjoy and be happy.
If their daily physical needs are met, you will have the most lovable dog with whom you will not have any problems.
Temperament
To ensure that you end up with the best possible dog, early socialization is a must. Start socializing your Český Fousek as soon as you bring him home. With proper socialization, you will ensure that your dog doesn't become shy or aggressive. Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and kids

Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and other animals
Český Fousek generally can get along with other dogs if they are properly socialized and introduced from an early age. However, there can be situations where your Bohemian Wirehaired Pointing Griffon will not like the company of other dogs.
Since this is a true hunting dog, smaller animals in the household are not advised since they have a strong prey drive and will, in most cases, try and pursue smaller animals as they perceive them as prey.
