The Barak or Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound is a hunting breed of dog from the scenthound family that was first developed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The breed was originally used to hunt large game due to its great tracking skills. The name that was firstly given to the breed was Illyrian Hound, in reference to the pre-Slavic people that lived in that area. Today's breed is descended from indigenous dog types, that were crossbred with Italian gun dogs in the late 19th century.
