The Tornjak is a mountain sheep dog native to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The breed became almost extinct, but the salvation started in the early 1970s with pure blood breeding. Tornjaks belong to the rare livestock protection breeds and it is one of the very old breeds from ancient times, mentioned in documents of the Catholic Church for the first time in the 9th century.
