The Magyar agár (Hungarian Greyhound) is a breed of dog of the sighthoung family. It has origins in Hungary and lands that historically belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was mostly used for hunting and coursing, and is also kept as a companion and a pet. The part of the name “Greyhound” is misleading, more appropriate name would be Hungarian sighthound or Hungarian gazehound.
