The Afghan Hound is a breed of hound that is unique by its thick, fine, silky coat and its tail with a ring curl at the end. This breed is selectively bred to keep the characteristics and adapt to the cold region of the mountains in Afghanistan. Its local name is Tāžī Spay. Other names for this breed are Kuchi Hound, Tāzī, Balkh Hound, Baluchi Hound, Barakzai Hound, Shalgar Hound, Kabul Hound, Galanday Hound and also often called incorrectly African Hound.
