The Hokkaido is a dog breed originally bred in Japan. This breed is also often called Ainu-ken, Ainu dog and Seta. In Japan, its name is often reduced to Dō-ken. The Hokkaido is native to the island of Hokkaido in the north of Japan and specimens found outside its native place are usually smaller.
