The dachshund (English: badger dog; also known as the sausage dog or wiener dog) is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. It comes in three varieties as stated by the FCI; Standard #148a , Miniature #148b , Rabbit #148c. Their original purpose was to scent, chase and flush badgers out of their burrows so the hunters can catch them. Smaller versions were created to hunt smaller animals in Europe as well as in the US.
