The Sealyham Terrier is a rare Welsh breed of small to medium-sized terrier that originated in Wales and was originally bred to hunt otters, foxes, and badgers. The Sealyham owes its existence to the efforts of one man, Captain John Tucker-Edwardes, who was a Pembrokeshire squire of the nineteenth century. His aims were to create a terrier of small stature, white in colour and with a strong jaw. He kept no written records of his breeding programme. The Sealyham Terrier was recognised as early as 1911 by the Kennel Club and became extremely popular with celebrities in the early days of Hollywood.
