The Shar-Pei is a breed of dog known for its deep wrinkles and blue-black tongue. The breed originates from Canton, China and original Shar-Pei from China may have looked very different from the breed now. The Shar-Pei were originally bred as palace guards in China. Later through years they were used to hunt and for dog fighting. As puppies they have numerous wrinkles which loosen and spread out as they grow. Shar-Pei don’t like to be alone, preferring to be close to their humans.
