The Bouvier des Flandres is a herding breed of dog with origins from Flanders region in Belgium. They were mostly used as general farm working dogs with tasks like cattle droving, sheep herding, and cart pulling. Today they are usually employed as guard and police dogs, as well as being kept as pets because of their great character. The translation of the breeds name from French is literally, "Cow Herder of Flanders". Some other names include Toucheur de Boeuf, Vlaamse Koehond, and Vuilbaard.
