The Chihuahua is the smallest dog breed and this breed is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahuas come in a all sorts of colours, and two coat lengths. The two official and recognized types of Chihuahua breed are short-haired and long-haired. It is unclear when the breed was created but there are archeological findings that dates them to the time of Toltec civilization in Mexico (around 300 BC).
