The Beagle is a small dog breed that is similar in appearance to a lot bigger foxhound. The Beagle is a scent hound, bred primarily for hunting rabbits (beagling). With a superior sense of smell and a remarkable tracking instinct, the beagle is used by law enforcement and customs as sniffing dog for prohibited agricultural imports and forbidden food products around the world. The Beagle is intelligent but can be a bit stubborn. It is a popular pet due to its size, mild temper, and lack of genetic health problems. Its origins are from Great Britain and was made popular during the Elizabethan times.
