The Bavarian Mountain Hound (German = "Bayerischer Gebirgsschweißhund") is a German dog breed . As a scent hound with a keen sense of smell it has been used all over Germany since the early 1900s to trail wounded animals. It is bred by crossing the Bavarian Hound and the Hannover Hound.
