Border Terrier

The Border Terrier is a small and rough-coated dog breed from the terrier family. They were primarily bred to work as a fox and small animal hunter, the Border Terrier has the same ancestors as the Dandie Dinmont Terrier and the Bedlington Terrier. This breed was officially recognized by The Kennel Club in 1920, and by the AKC in 1930. The border terrier was carefully bred so they could keep up with their travelling companions such as foxhounds and horses, but were also selectively bred so they have small bodies in case they needed to crawl into fox burrows and chase them out for hunters to catch.
